Soar Over a Red Hot Volcanic Eruption | National Geographic

Piton de la Fournaise: French for “peak of the furnace,” an apt name for one of the world’s most active volcanoes. Located on the French island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean, the volcano has erupted over 150 times since settlement began in the 17th century. This footage gives an especially close view of the activity thanks to the drone work of photographer Jonathan Payet.
